One Device
for all

One Device.
For hardware and software.
For creating and experiencing information.

Imagine a computer with more built-in periphery for you to interact with information. It could, for example, be additionally equipped with beacons to track your position in front of the device, sensors for gesture control, ultra-sound output for haptics, faders, knobs, a touchscreen, physical bar charts and vibrating or heated plates. Then imagine the software to be built in such a way that it is specifically tailored toward controlling the hardware. Now, imagine both, hardware and software, to work hand in hand to create immersive data experiences.

It is proposed to call the stream of communication for a piece of information to be showcased a „data story“ and to subdivide it into logical entities, so-called „chapters“ and „paragraphs“. Those represent a sequence of input-output combinations to be enabled at different time-points of a story line. The device’s behavior depends on whether it is used at design time or at run time.
